Meet Pastor Bill Tenny-Brittian

Pastor Bill Tenny-Brittian, Doctor of Ministry in Church Multiplication Movements

Bill Tenny-Brittian began fulfilling his call to ministry when he entered formal ministerial training at the Baptist College in Florida.  While he was there, he was called upon to help plant a new church in Dothan, Alabama.  Energized by his experience, he entered seminary at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and served in two different churches, both of which experienced significant growth.  However, he felt called to church planting, and in 1997 he trained with Bill Easum and later with the Church Multiplication Training Center in order to become the best trained planter he could be.

He relocated with his wife, the Rev. Kris Tenny-Brittian, to plant a church in the Seattle Metroplex.  Together, they planted The Rock Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Auburn, Washington, a sanctuary-based church.  In 2002, under Pastor Bill's leadership, The Rock got out of the real estate business and adopted the House Church paradigm for doing and being church.  Over the next two years, he intensely studied the global House Church movement and, together with The Rock's network of House Churches and other leaders, designed a strategic plan and model for multiplication of disciples, leaders, and House Churches specific to the North American context.  This plan was adopted by The Rock's congregation late in 2003 and implemented in January of 2004.

In July of 2004, Pastor Bill's doctoral thesis, The House Church Manual, was published by Chalice Press and the basic details of the model will be available for others to consider (available at Amazon.com).  In April of 2005, his book Prayer For People Who Can't Sit Still was released and in August his book Under the Radar Churches with co-author Bill Easum will be released (Amazon.com).  He also leads seminars on House Church Multiplication, Small Group Formation and Multiplication, and Spirituality for People Who Can't Sit Still.

Pastor Bill is married to Kris Tenny-Brittian and together they have five children.  They live in Renton, Washington in view of Mt. Rainier.
